DS TECHEETAH is delighted to announce that its sim driver Arthur Lehouck will together with Virtual 24hrs Le Mans 2020 winner Nikodem Wisniewski represent the double championship winning team in Formula E’s new Esports program, Accelerate.
Both drivers are part of DS TECHEETAH’s technical partner MAHLE’s Esports team and this activation is a joint collaboration between the brands.
Accelerate is Formula E’s second Esports product on rFactor2 and is a six-race competition that kicks off at the end of January and concludes in March with a grand finale that offers double points. This time the sim racers will face new challenges as they will have to master energy management and ATTACK MODE for the first time, bringing the online competitors even closer to the real sporting product.
The virtual races will take place at inch-perfect digital recreations of the tracks from the real-world Formula E locations such as Hong Kong’s Harbourfront, Red Hood in New York City and Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport where DS TECHEETAH claimed its back-to-back double championship titles last year.
The 24 sim racers will be gunning for a €100,000 prize pot and the ultimate all-electric driving experience of taking the Gen2 car for some laps around a Formula E circuit during an E-Prix weekend.
Keith Smout, DS TECHEETAH Chief Commercial Officer:
“We are incredibly excited to run this project together with our partner MAHLE who has extensive experience and fantastic results in the world of Esports. We are not the kind of team who have lots of partners for the sake of it, we truly operate together with all of our partners and this is a great example of that. We have come together on this project to echo what our brands stand for, joint collaboration to excel in all our endeavours – and of course to win another championship albeit this one is virtual. It will be our first adventure into Esports on this level and we can’t wait to see what Arthur and Nikodem will deliver.”
Sebastian Goldbach, MAHLE Esports Racing Coordinator:
“Supporting the presence of DS TECHEETAH in the Formula E Accelerate Esports series adds another exciting dimension to our partnership. MAHLE has been a first mover in Esports racing, successfully fielding the MAHLE RACING TEAM on various sim platforms and in major events of this industry. To join forces with DS TECHEETAH now in this innovative and fascinating field, is a fantastic opportunity. We are convinced that the series will produce gripping virtual racing – and of course we want to support with our expertise to turn it into a success.”
Arthur Lehouk, DS TECHEETAH sim and Accelerate driver:
“It’s such an honour to represent DS TECHEETAH in the new Formula E sim championship. As I’m doing a lot of sim work for the team it’s a real pleasure to now enter Accelerate on behalf of the team. It won’t be the same platform and same equipment as we deal with in real life, but my goal is the same as when we operate the real DS TECHEETAH sim, to manage my energy and to go as fast as possible with the energy I have to finish in the best possible position. rFactor2 is something that is completely new to me so I’m putting in a lot of hours to get on top of it and be ready to fight with the best.”
Nikodem Wisniewski, DS TECHEETAH Accelerate driver:
“I am really happy to represent DS TECHEETAH in Formula E’s Accelerate Esports Series. It’s an honour to be in this high-quality field and I will try to compete on the highest possible level, to bring the best results I can. This series going to be really interesting, especially that we need to manage the regen mode and use the battery in the smartest way. I can’t wait for the start of this competition!”
